Attention Soap Makers!
FDA butting into things>

Call to action for anyone who is or buys from a small bath and body

business/WAHM:

Currently, the FDA has proposed legislation called the FDA

Globalization Act of 2008. In addition to broad sweeping changes to

current food and drug laws, this will also greatly impact small

cosmetic businesses (yes this means bath and body WAHMs as well as

soap makers). It could mean the end of the majority of bath and body

WAHMs who cannot afford to meet compliance by the deadline (fees

ranging from $1000 up to $12,000) or switch their entire product line

to a private label company.

Please tell congress that you are against this legislation by signing

this petition. The petition is for consumers as well as people in the

business. If you would like to sign the petition, simply add a comment

at the end of the blog, but be sure to put your full name, city and

state in the actual comments section with the phase, "I oppose the FDA

Globalization Act of 2008." You can add any other comments as well.

And then this is mine on petition:

I am totally against this. After all, people have been making and

selling their own soaps & body care products for centuries. I'm

extremely disappointed that once again our govt wants to step in &

"act in our best interest". Please give this a rest & try something

better, like say..help look for solutions to end the problems with the

homeless, provide more for the public schools, end hunger in our

"great" country. There are more serious things going on than trying to

regulate hard working individuals scraping by to make a living & help

provide for their families. If this ludicrous law was to pass, it

would effect more of the American population than you may realize,

causing even more economic problems, which at this moment in time our

country surely does not need!
