journey of a wahm
Don't stand in someone else's shadow when it's your sunlight that should lead the way.
Like helping?
Here's a few of my favorite national non-profit organizations. :) I really only try to support the ones I  KNOW are making a true effort to make the changes they want come about.

What can I say, but this org. rocks. There is NO reason that millions of people have to go hungry, to suffer, when so many live the high life. They are seeking to end that suffering, around the world.

Not exactly what you are thinking, this org. connects you to YOUR cause. What makes you passionate, what do you stand for, what concerns you? They help connect you with an organization that you can help, with money, your skills, knowledge, volunteering. Sadly enough, most org. need volunteers as much as they need money. And most people are more willing to give up their cash before they give up their time.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, they have made huge changes and continue to fight for the rights of our fuzzy & feathered friends who have no voice of their own. An organization I support due to the close connection I had in the field of animals. I've seen some sad things, making me have little faith in humans at times. They not only support the END of animal cruelty, but also spay/neuter, and pet adoption.

If only people understood, there is NO such thing as a no kill shelter. They either "transfer" the animal to someone who will (making them the bad guys, but not on the NK shelters records!), OR they let them live out their lives in cages, some having illnesses with no cure, like feline aids or leukemia. A waste of funds that could be used to to help animals that could be re-homed. THOUSANDS of perfectly healthy puppies and kittens, adult pats, they are put to sleep, killed, beacuse there are NOT enough homes for them...so do me a favor, and the rest of the world. If you have a pet, spay/neuter it, if you plan to breed, do it responsibly. Any respectable breeder doesn't breed for the money, they do it because they LOVE that breed. And there is no GOOD reason not to have the family pet fixed. Mittens & fluffy will not be tramatized by not having their "nuts" anymore, or not being able to experience the "joy of motherhood". Sure, we all love having 4-8 babies only to have them given away to random strangers right in front of us, I'll buy that...not.
